A place called perfect

The protagonist of A Place called Perfect is a girl called Violet. She has to move to Perfect because Violet’s dad is a dentist. They meet the town leaders of Perfect, George and Edward Archer. They offer them some tea. Violet is reluctant to have any as she doesn’t like tea, but the tea is delicious. Whatever you want the tea to taste like is how it will taste. If you want it to taste like orange juice, it will taste like orange juice. If you want it to taste like water, then it’ll taste like water. Violet really likes it so she drinks a lot of it. The next morning, she wakes up and she is totally blind! She gets some glasses and miraculously, she can see again. For some reason, everyone in Perfect has to have glasses and everyone is Perfect at everything they do. For example, her mum is terrible at cooking but in Perfect, she’s really good. Violet’s dad then disappears and she tries to work out where he’s gone. Luckily, she meets a person called Boy. They start to investigate this and find out some very interesting facts.

This book is full of twists and turns. In each book, you find out something new. It is excellent and extremely exciting.

This book is part of a trilogy and is the first book in the series. This book is suitable for ages 9+. It is also suitable for adults as well.

This book depicts a dystopian future. It makes me think of how it would feel to live in a totalitarian regime. It’s not actually that far from reality because in North Korea it controls everything its citizens do.

If you decide to get this book, I hope you enjoy it.

Percy Jackson and the last Olympian

Percy Jackson and the last Olympian is about a boy called Percy Jackson who is the son of Poseidon (the Greek sea god). This book is part of a pentalogy (a five book series)It’s the last book in the series.
This book is full of suspense from the moment you meet Charles Beckendorf (a son of Hephaestus who is the Greek god of fire) to the moment the last clinks of swords in battle. When Charles Beckendorf comes, he tells Percy it’s time to go to Kronos’s (a Titan) ship. When they go to the ship, they find out that someone in camp-half blood (a camp to train Demi-gods) is a spy. This is especially bad because there is a prophecy that says, when a child of the big three (Zeus the god of the gods; Hades the god of the underworld; and Poseidon) turns sixteen, they will make a decision that could change the fate of the world forever! In this book, Kronos is very clever and he distracts the gods from the actual battle. An old sea god comes back and starts a battle with Poseidon. All of the rest of the gods are fighting Typhon. Hestia ( the last Olympian) helps Percy Jackson with his quest. Hestia was once part of the 12 gods but so that there wouldn’t be a massive argument, she stepped down and let Dionysus take her place.

I would recommend this entire series as they are all amazing books. I will do a review of other books in this series later on. If you are interested in this series, there is another series which leads on from this series those books are also amazing and they include the Roman Gods as well as the Greek. I would recommend this book to people who are over 10. You can read from a younger age but you might need to read it with an adult. Although events in this book might not have happened in the actual myths, the Demi-Gods have to remember myths to be able to defeat the monsters. It’s a fun way to learn about Greek mythology. I would rate it 5/5 as it is a excellent book. I hope you enjoy this book if you decide to get it.

Cookie

Cookie by Jacqueline Wilson

This book shows you that who you are is all that you can be. Also it shows you how important your family is and that you are so lucky to have a family who loves and cares for you.

Cookie is a family drama kind of book and it is quite brutal at times but also a book that warms your heart. The theme is bullying and it is set in London for most of it but then it moves to Rabbit Cove.

We follow Beauty around for about a month while she deals with her dad and her bullies. We don’t know how old she is but I guess around 9-10.

The main characters are Beauty, Beauty’s parents and two girls from her school. Some of the characters help Beauty while the others hinder.

I love the story because it gives you bucket loads of courage and bravery! The best part is when Beauty and her mum start a sweeter new life. The story makes me feel glad for who I am. I think this book is quite unusual and I learnt from this book that love and support is all you need.

I would recommend this book for 8+

First class murder

This is an exhilarating murder mystery book by Robin Stevens. This is the third book in the murder mystery series. Daisy Wells and Hazel Wong ( the protagonists) have already solved two other murders and Hazels Dad doesn’t want her to be solving anymore. He takes both of them on holiday on the orient express to try and keep them away from murder. Everyone on board is hiding something. But lo and behold, one supper a scream is heard. A wealthy heiress is found dead in her room! But the murderer has vanished into thin air. This is Hazel and Daisies first locked room case! It isn’t going to be easy though, there are plenty of people not wanting them to solve the case. There are also other detectives who are trying to solve the case as well…

Who will solve the case?

I would rate this 5 stars and it is suitable for ages 9 plus.

Harry Potter and the Philoserpher’ stone.

He thinks he is just a normal boy until a giant man comes along and transports Harry into the Wizarding World. At Hogwarts, he creates some for-ever friends. Soon enough things start happening. I recommend this book for 6 and over. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
